Mission, Vision and Values - A Journey Begins

Mission, Vision and Values

Mission, Vision and Values

“A JOURNEY BEGINS…” An Interactive Indigenous Cultural Experience.

At “A Journey Begins…” , you will be taken on an interactive journey through time, of Indigenous North American Culture.

Our journey begins with a Traditional Opening Address in one of the original Languages.

Followed by a full translation to provide a greater understanding of the importance of the Opening Address and how it relates to our Indigenous Worldview.

Using Traditional Storytelling to convey important life lessons. Coupled with demonstrations of various social dances and songs.

This allows workshop and seminar participants to develop a deeper understanding for the importance and significance of Traditional Indigenous Teachings, Ceremonial Practices and respect for Indigenous ways of knowing and being.

This is, the concept of Teaching or Educating people.

The role that I play is that of a Teacher, an Educator:

  • To pass it on to the people, what knowledge that I carry, onto the next generation. So that they may remember and pass it onto the next, and they pass it on to next. So that the seventh generation behind me will know and understand and remember.

For me, this is my understanding of the responsibility of carrying such knowledge.

It does not mean that I am an expert in any way shape or form. It does not mean that I know and understand everything. What it does mean is: This is my role and responsibility.

  • I am responsible to fulfill my role as a knowledge keeper and pass that knowledge on – to the very best of my ability, as I understand it.

The role and responsibility of the receiver is:

  • To carry that knowledge further and add to it, their’ experience and understanding of it – to the very best of their ability, as they understand it.

This is what it means to be Indigenous. This is what it means to be ONKWEHON:WE (Original People/Human Being).

This is the exact same role and responsibility of an Educator.  A Teacher.

I invite you to take a journey with me, “TSI TIOTÁHSAWEN TEWAHTÉN:TI…” (at the place where A Journey Begins…)

As Life, after all, is a journey.

workshops  on-line (and in-person when allowed).

Allowing for bridge building to take place, to re-establish and strengthen relationships,

in order to bring about Active, Meaningful and Sustaining Truth and Reconciliation.

Our VALUES

Based upon the Original Instructions given to us by the Creator: Ohén:ton Karihwatéhkwen – The Thanksgiving Address.

He gave us everything we need to sustain our lives on this Earth as a gift.

As long as we take care of it, it will be here to take care of us.

He intended life to be simple.

We were meant to travel across this Earth to Admire all of his Creation,

taking only what we need, and replacing what we take.

until it is our time to return home to the SkyWorld.

All that HE asked for in return,

Was for us to give greetings of Love, Honour, Respect, Thanks and Gratitude each and every day.

We need to return to His original instructions.

Thereby creating a Sustainable, Harmonious, Prosperous Society, Living in Peace and Harmony with Nature and each other

on this Planet that we call home.

Mother Earth.
