Immersive Nature Tour—Afternoon

Journey through time on an interactive nature tour and experience how Muskoka would have been before European contact.

This tour is perfect for you if:

  • You’re curious to experience the journey of how Muskoka evolved to what it is today.
  • You’re looking for a way to explore Muskoka and experience the best it has to offer.
  • You’re open to deepening your spiritual connection to the natural world.

We’ll meet at the head of the Wilson’s Falls trail, overlooking the modern dam. As we cross over the falls and continue down the trail, we leave modern day and enter Mother Nature’s timeline.

Drawing on his personal knowledge and relationships with renowned local historians, elder and guide Christopher Stock will paint a picture of this spot as it existed centuries ago. From its importance as a portage and meeting spot on a busy trade route, to the stewardship and land management practices of local Indigenous people, Christopher brings its rich history to life, told through an Indigenous perspective.

As we travel the path, we’ll note the more recent changes to the landscape wrought by logging and dam building, eventually leading to the emergence of tourism as a major industry in the area. As we wrap up our walk, we’ll consider our responsibility to care for the land to create a space that is enjoyable for all.

Please note: Wilson’s Falls trail is 3.6km long and includes some steep hills and challenging terrain.
