
Making Traditional Water Drums
In this two day, immersive workshop, you will hand carve a traditional Haudenosaunee water drum using traditional tools and methods. While you work, you’ll share stories, songs and food over the fire with your fellow participants and instructors.
Over the span of two days you’ll create and decorate your own water drum and drumstick from wood, leather and metal. Using fire and simple tools to hollow out a log, this labour intensive process requires focus, concentration, intention and perseverance.
While you work, you’ll share stories, songs and food over the fire with your fellow participants and instructors. At the end of the second day you’ll leave with a working drum, hand carved drumstick and plug.
